Derek Davis | Smudge/Sheriff Rowdy Jackson

is stoked for another fun summer at Pickleville. What an opportunity to work with such an amazing group of people! Favorite roles include: the title role in Joseph… Dreamcoat, Bobby in Crazy For You, Seymour in Little Shop..., Enjolras in Les Miserables, Brad in Hairspray, Gideon in Seven Brides..., and Linus in ...Charlie Brown. Derek served an LDS mission in Laoag, Philippines and is currently studying exercise science (pre-med) at BYU. Beginning in the fall, he will also be performing again with the BYU Young Ambassadors - this time with his little sister Whitney! Future dreams include getting married, having a big family, becoming rich, and learning to fly airplanes … not in that order. He wants to thank his parents, siblings, and grandparents for their love and examples. “Life is awesome. Enjoy the shows!”

If you were a food item, what would you be and why?
If the saying "you are what you eat" is true than I'm probably either chips and salsa or ice cream – my two favorite foods. One summer, I ate chips and salsa at least once every single day for 3 months straight. Cool huh?

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I have a homework assignment saved from kindergarten with this same question on it… My response was "A cowboy, doctor, or an alien." Two for three! …and I'm not a doctor yet.

If you could choose any role in any musical or play what would it be?
Probably either Ren in Footloose or Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors... again.

What's your favorite one liner from "Forever Plaid" or "The Hanging of el Bandito"?
Plaid: "We work hard to sing about men who love, but we also love to sing about men… who work hard." Bandito: "That's funny… cuz I do."

Which famous singer or performer would you like to have lunch with?
Norbert Leo Butz or Aaron Tveit. My two Broadway idols.

If you were stranded on an island what one item would be necessary to have?
A café rio restaurant. Is that considered an 'item'?

How do you eat an Oreo?
The regular way. Put six and a half Oreos in a plastic bag, crush them up, put them in a wooden strainer, soak them in 2% milk to the proper sogginess, and enjoy.

What super powers do you wish you had?
The power to kill an ox from 200 yards away—with mind bullets. That's telekinesis.
